This open-air staging by acclaimed director Stephen Wadsworth resurrects Aeschylus’ unsettling domestic drama of The House of Atreus, heard in a riveting translation by the late Robert Fagles. The victorious Agamemnon arrives home with his surviving troops after the bloody battle for Troy. As the drama unfolds, a returning soldier bears witness to unthinkable carnage, a city questions the wisdom of the decade-long war, and a family turns the violence of war in on itself. Tickets $38; $32 students/seniors. (Previews $15).”

This Side of Paradise:  Body and Landscape in L.A. Photographs (until Sept 15, 2008)

This exhibit juxtaposes the glamour and underbelly of Los Angeles, demystifying the idea of Southern California paradise with photographs of the LA Times bombing and the deadened eyes of a woman in curlers working in the Adult Film Industry. Huntington Library. 1151 Oxford Road. San Marino, CA 91108.  (626) 405-2100
